Reverend Collins A. Days, Sr.
Collins A. Days, Sr. of Hartsville, SC is one of nine children born to Mordrell and Catherine Days. He graduated from Butler High School in Hartsville, and then entered South Carolina State College 1978 to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in political Science. In 1982 while still in college, he was called to the ministry. It was also during this time that he fell in love with Constance Wilson, and soon after they were married.
Rev. Days became the youngest full-time Pastor in the state of South Carolina when he accepted the call to Round-O-Baptist Church in Darlington, SC. After thirteen years of service there, he and Constance gathered their four children, Collins Anthony Jr., Constance Amanda, Catherine Abria, and Carson Antonio (along with some favorite livestock and several family pets) and moved to Atlantic City, NJ to pastor Second Baptist Church.
Rev. Days firmly believes the Gospel of Jesus Christ is spiritual with distinct social implications, he has continued to make quite an impact on Atlantic City, its surrounding areas and in the mission field abroad. Rev Days is a visionary leader and mentor of others in ministry, his work has impacted not only the immediate community around Second Baptist Church but missions partnerships in Kenya, Malawi and Uganda to name a few foreign nations.
Reverend Days has a deep concern for our youth and a desire to encourage emotionally broken men and women who have lost hope in spiritual things. This concern motivated him to establish the Minister’s Home Detention Program, the Pastor’s Posse, Christians in Recovery, Spiritual Leadership Training classes. Through the continued blessing of God and the support of the Second Baptist Church, he has been able to reach out and assist local Spanish speaking congregations, Korean congregations, a Ghanaian congregation in Newark, NJ as well as fellow Baptist churches around the country and abroad.
Pastor Days continues to work diligently to bring the vision God has given him to fruition. While in the process of securing all that is necessary for the new edifice, he continues to study, teach and preach the Word of God, to pray, and to impart the richness of God’s purpose into the lives of the people. His life continues to touch many, and those lives are much richer for having had the experience. Second Baptist Church is honored to grow under the care and leadership of our esteemed Pastor and his family today. Thanks be to God. |
